Why Cork?
When we created KorQoo, we wanted to find an alternative to aluminium that was renewable, lightweight, durable and practical.
Cork offered everything we were looking for.
And the best part? It can be harvested without cutting down the tree.
Cork starts with a living tree
Cork comes from the bark of the cork oak tree (Quercus suber).
The bark is carefully harvested from mature trees while the tree remains standing. It naturally regenerates, allowing the cork to be harvested again throughout the tree’s long life.
This means cork is a renewable natural material that can support healthy, productive forests for generations.
Cork oak landscapes also provide important habitats for wildlife and play a role in storing carbon.

Naturally designed for everyday life
Cork has an incredible natural structure made up of millions of tiny, air-filled cells. This gives it a unique combination of properties:

Lightweight
Ideal for travel and everyday use.

Durable
Fexible and resilient enough to withstand everyday use.

Renewable
Harvested bark regenerates without cutting down the cork oak tree.

Water Resistant
Naturally resistant to moisture, making it particularly suited to bathrooms and soap storage.

Insulating
Its cellular structure gives cork excellent thermal and acoustic insulation properties.

Why does the material matter?
At KorQoo, we believe sustainability starts before a product reaches your hands.
- Where did the material come from?
- How was it harvested?
- Can it regenerate?
- How long will the product last?
Our Cork Soap Box was created from those questions and that’s how KorQoo evolved.
Rather than simply replacing one conventional material with another, we wanted to choose something that works with nature.
